Cleveland, Chicago and Back to the North East.

Dear All,

We left Cleveland and headed towards Chicago with plenty of time to spare. We found The Mutiny in Bucktown and killed some time in Wicker Park, which offered many cool book, record and vintage stores. We also found a record store with an arcade in the back room that had every awesome game from the 80's. I asked the guy where I could get change and he told me the games were free. I couldn't believe it. Noah also spent some time in total amazement.

We loaded in and enjoyed some cold pops. The Mutiny is a good old fashioned dive bar. It holds all of the qualities one might expect. From the oversized urinals to a juke box loaded to the gills, it embraces all the important elements to throw a loud rock show. Kelly tested out a new axe, and kept talking about turning his amp way up all night...and he did.

We set up much differently than we normally do because of the way the stage was built and it added a fun aspect to the set. Someone yelled out 'Degrade', and we pulled it out for the first time in over a year. Overall it was a great show and we made a bunch of new friends. We can't wait to go back soon.

Although Chitwood didn't get to see as many of the Blues Brother's sites in Chicago as he would have liked, he did get a chance to sing his hit, 'C-Face' on this tour. Another job well done.

We departed from Chicago at approximately 1am with an arrival time back in Vermont at 4:19 pm. With a few stops, a lost hub cap and a few bumpy hours of sleep, we made it back smoothly. One more down done safely.

It's important for us to express our deep gratitude to our manager Leah Konecny, our families and everyone else that helps and supports us along the way. We recognize the importance of all your hard work and support. Thanks you guys.

Keep in touch and we will meet you back here real soon. In the meantime, stay connected on upcoming dates on facebook HERE or on our website HERE (just look left, man.)

Love,

Waylon Speed

Waylon Speed is Headed Your Way.

Waylon Speed is excited to gear up and hit the road soon. The band took January off of touring to write new material and spend time with family and friends in Vermont. Their wheels are ready to hit pavement and roll on down the highway. Check out their upcoming schedule and join them at a venue near you.

"I think we all feel better than ever for this tour. The band and the van are both running well."

Waylon Speed Down South: 10 More Days on the Road

Dear All,

We wanted to write and check in with a tour update.

We left Vermont and headed for Boston for a show at O’Briens. We tried out a new setlist and made some new friends. The singer of Tired Old Bones (accompanied by Tree drummer) was pregnant and rocking out as she sang and played the keys. It sure was impressive, and we look forward to seeing those guys again (thanks for the seven inch records!)

We left Boston and headed towards Oneonta, New York. When we pulled into town, we quickly noticed that the college kid mentality ruled the streets. There were stumbling people all over the streets by eight-o’clock at night. Entertaining? Yes. Enriching? No. We made friends seamlessly at a local haunt, and found a reasonable place to stay at Christopher’s Lodge which was just a few blocks from the venue. Taxidermy was their religion and the room was built in an Adirondack style, equipped with antler chandeliers and deer paintings. It was a nice change from the more corporate options, but just odd enough to make you feel a little funny. As you can see, Noah and Kelly insisted on a photo shoot in front of a fancy outdoor scene backboard. Very Hollywood of them.

Grand Point North

We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to our friends Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and all the outstanding bands that played Grand Point North Festival. We truly had a blast and it felt great to be home. Thanks for the support!

Here's a bit more about what happened at the festival.
